Next year, I hope Lauren Bacall brings her glasses. She couldn't read the teleprompter. When will aging screen stars drop their vanity? I was so expecting "Brokeback" to win that when Nicholson said "Crash" I thought I had the wrong category. And what in God's name was that winning so-called song besides special effects and a lot of noise? Do voters even listen??? Ryan Seacrest turns my stomach. E! is crazy. He's overexposed just being on "Idol." What made E! think we'd like him at the Oscars??? Gag me with a spoon. This year's Academy Awards will stand out as the year they had nothing to offer, at least in my book. It was a comedy of errors in which none of the presenters even seemed happy. Oh, I forgot the one thing they had to offer -- that giant theater with the ticket booth, made to remind us where we should view our movies. I don't know about you, but I prefer the sofa and an ON-OFF switch.

Let's not forget that the really great, memorable films never win Best Picture. Citizen Kane 2001 A Space Odyssey Raging Bull etc etc At least we didn't have the usual Sting/Phil Collins/Randy Newman showdown for Original Song this year. Must continue to hunt down a reason to watch next year... and the evening was still gayer than the Tonys. I'm going to let it all go now.

I'm almost in total shock Crash won. It wasn't a bad movie, per say, but clearly not even one of this year's top 5. It's really a sad day, but there have been BAD movies that won Best Picture before - just look at Titanic. I'm not even saying Brokeback definately should have won, I just know that Crash was completely undeserving.
