There's faith, and there's the kind of brainwashing Bill Maher (turdknuckle should spell people's names right when he bashes them) is lampooning in his documentary. I heard one of them on NPR this morning talking about how she wants to vote for Obama because she thinks he'll fix the economy, but is probably going to vote for McCain because of her faaaaith because he's supposedly "pro-life" and will get Roe v. Wade overturned.

If there any of those reading this, let me clue you in on something. Come closer. Put on your bifocals. Ready? Good.

THE REPUBLICANS WILL NEVER REPEAL ROE V. WADE. NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER. THE DAY ROE GOES AWAY IS THE DAY THE REPUBLICANS LOSE THE BEST WEDGE ISSUE THEY EVER HAD. THEY WILL HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO CONVINCE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO THE GOP HAS LED BY THE NOSE WITH YOUR "FAITH" THAT THEY ARE WORTH VOTING FOR.

They will make pious noises about it, maybe even show up at one of your demonstrations if they dare, but they will never actually overturn Roe v. Wade. It is all lip service. All of it. If it were to go away, they'd have to talk about serious issues for a change, and they'd lose because they're on the wrong side of all the really serious issues, the ones that actually affect you people out there who vote based on your "faith".

So what I suggest to you is to take a real good hard look at the people you are supporting with your vote. Do they uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ? I don't mean the bullcrap your megachurch minister has been spoonfeeding you, I mean the actual teachings of Jesus Christ (you know, the guy they named your religion after?) as outlined in the Gospels. You have read those, right? Note that Jesus says quite a bit about loving thy neighbor, treating people as you'd like to be treated, and how wealth corrupts people, and not one word about abortion, gays, or any of the other bullcrap that takes up entirely too much of your time and energy. Compare each candidate to the actual Jesus instead of the Republican "Jesus" (TM), and get back to me.

]]> <![CDATA[]]> I'm tired of the comparison to other governors of small states who had little experience when running for president. Yes, we feel uneasy about her inexperience, but it's not her inexperience which is horrifying, it's her lack of intelligence.

I have been watching her since she joined the ticket, and not ONCE have I seen her demonstrate a respectable level of intelligence or a genuine moment of thoughtfulness. All I've seen is nonstop spewing of lines that have been fed to her. She bombs in interviews because those spoon-fed answers don't hold up when any additional probing is done.

She has charisma, sex appeal, and the ability to talk for a full two minutes without taking a breath, but she is not a smart person. And neither is McCain! It's been bad enough for 8 years with one C student leading the executive branch. How bad does it get if there are two? If I have to hear any more about how McCain makes decisions from "his gut" I'm going to make "something" from my gut.
